Our class flew to Ireland to learn about their country and traditions. Safina's mom was kind enough to tell us what she knows about Ireland and their traditions.Visiting Sweden was especially fun! We learned that the oldest girl in the family serves her family delicious coffee cake on Christmas morning. So Audrey L. served our classroom family coffee cake to her classmates! She is the oldest girl in our class. The children celebrating St. Lucia!
What a fun time we have had visiting so many counties and learning about their traditions. We have learned that many of our traditions that we do in the United States originated elsewhere!
The children learned about the holiday traditions the people do to celebrate in the Netherlands. We made wooden shoes and put carrots and hay in each of them. The next morning the carrots and hay were gone and replaced with Hersey kisses! Sinterklass had visited our room! The excitement when each child entered the room and noticed what has happened was priceless!
The students have packed their bags and have their passports ready. Our class will be learning about the different holiday traditions around the world. Our fist stop was Isreal. Mrs. House visited our room to talk about Hanukkah. She read us two stories and shared delicious challah bread! What a delicious treat! Thanks, Mrs. House!
We had an enjoyable field trip to our local library, Brainerd Library last week. The children were greeted my Mrs. Coleman. She is the children's librarian. Mrs. Coleman gave us a tour of the library and gave each student a library card. She also read us two wonderful stories to the children. They can't wait to go back and visit Brainerd Library with their families.
