The first grade classes enjoyed a fun-filled morning rotating to various stations to learn more about Thanksgiving! One of the stations involved making butter out of cream. The children had turned shaking the cream to help transform it into butter. Mrs. Klein, one of our cafeteria ladies, joined in on the fun! They all tried some and loved the yummy butter!
Our class has been lucky to have several opportunities to visit the Maker Space room this year. We have been working with Mrs. Johnson and have begun exploring various creative group projects. More information will be sent home about a classroom project involving recyclable plastic bottles! Stay tuned!
These past few weeks the students have been writing “how to” pieces during writing. It has been fun creating this type of writing during our writing workshop block. We have enjoyed reading our fabulous pieces with our classmates during the sharing segment of writing workshop! Picture above is Gabby sharing her “how to” piece to her classmates.
What a fun cultural arts performance! It was called Cardboard Explosion and was a very interactive show! The children loved every minute of the performance. Thank you, PTO!
Arianna’s family spoke to our class. Her aunt and grandmother are veterans. Hannah is proud of her grandfather who is a veteran. Thank you for your service.
The Super Secret Detectives Agency (SSDA) visited our classroom various times throughout the past few weeks. They left an envelope that had missions for us to accomplish. These missions pertained to ways that readers need to do when they come across a word that they don’t know and various strategies that can be used to help figure out the word. We have been successful in these missions and will be receiving a word detective badge very soon
