The students enjoyed learning about birds of prey this week through an assembly given by A Place Called Hope. This place serves to rescue and rehabilitate these amazing birds. The students saw four different birds, including members of the owl, raptor, and hawk families. This assembly served as a great introduction to our nonfiction units of study that we are beginning.
Congratulations to all of the students in Room 17 who participated in our reading and math summer challenges! These students were recognized for all of their hard work today!
We had such a great day celebrating Halloween in Room 17. The costumes were awesome, the treats were delicious, and the pumpkin ghost bowling was so much fun! A special thank you to all of the parents who helped to make our day so special!
Today we celebrated Grace's birthday! We hope you had an awesome day Grace. We also participated in school color wars and our whole class showed their spirit by wearing red! We helped to raise funds for hurricane relief. Great job Room 17 and all of BES!
We had so much fun with our 3rd grade buddies today! Our buddies practiced reading fluently with us and we showed them what awesome word detectives we have become! We always look forward to our visits with our special friends.
Math games are a great way to help your child improve their math fact fluency. Not only are they having fun, but they are also working on the automaticity of their math facts. One of our favorite games to play is Top-It!! All you need is a deck of cards. You can begin by flipping one card each and the highest number wins. When you are ready to increase the difficulty, each player flips over two cards, adds them together, and the highest sum wins!!! The kids love this. Have them teach you how to play at home!
We had such a great time at the Fire Safety Assembly. The students learned different ways to stay safe in case of an emergency. We got to see different gear, equipment, and even one of the fire trucks!! Be sure to ask your kiddos what they made Mrs. Edwards do!!
Our first family read was awesome! The students enjoyed reading to their family members and hearing some amazing stories shared by our special visitors. We can't wait for the next one in October!
