We have begun our nonfiction unit of study in Room 17! The students are immersed in nonfiction text and reading to learn new information. The students are enjoying reading about a variety of topics. We are learning how to become super smart nonfiction readers by taking sneak peeks, stopping and chatting about our books, and recognizing nonfiction text features that help us to learn even more information as we are reading!
The students enjoyed learning about birds of prey this week through an assembly given by A Place Called Hope. This place serves to rescue and rehabilitate these amazing birds. The students saw four different birds, including members of the owl, raptor, and hawk families. This assembly served as a great introduction to our nonfiction units of study that we are beginning.
Congratulations to all of the students in Room 17 who participated in our reading and math summer challenges! These students were recognized for all of their hard work today!
We had such a great day celebrating Halloween in Room 17. The costumes were awesome, the treats were delicious, and the pumpkin ghost bowling was so much fun! A special thank you to all of the parents who helped to make our day so special!
