Thank you to all the moms, dads and aunts that came today to read with the children. It is such a special time for the kids to get to share their accomplishments with you. It was great meeting all of you!
Yesterday the Burr was visited by the Connecticut Science Center from Hartford. They taught the students about bubbles and how they are made. They also had many volunteers help to test different theories. It was so much fun!
We just ended our math unit on 2d and 3d shapes. The students had lots of fun learning and constructing shapes in various ways. They learned the attributes and rules for 2d shapes: circle, square, rectangle, hexagon, rhombus and trapezoid. They also learned 3d shapes: cube, sphere, cone, pyramid, rectangular prism, and cylinder. The students had so much fun. They counted corners and sides, then counted faces, edges and vertices. They built shapes with shape blocks and play doh and popsicle sticks.
As the wrap up to the fundraising for the Haddam Food Bank, students were able to enjoy the day dressed as their friend. We had some famous athletic twins in our room along with some Ninja Warriors.
