On Monday, June 18 some of the student council members taught us about bullying. They had been to a special workshop where they learned a lot. They did skits for us to show what bullying is and what you can do. The kids asked good questions to make the first graders think and understand more about bullying and how to help.
THANK YOU STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS!!!!
Celebrating Max’s Birthday
When we got back from our field trip, we celebrated Max’s birthday! Max’s birthday is July 25, but we celebrated him turning 7 early while we are in school!
Max had a fun game where we tried to find little words in the word CONSTRUCTION - since Max likes construction vehicles so much! We also enjoyed a special treat of homemade chocolate chip cookies and juicy grapes!!!
HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY, MAX!!!
Bushy Hill Nature Center
On Friday, June 15 all three first grade classes rode the bus together to Bushy Hill Nature Center in Ivoryton for a fun field trip! The children enjoyed a nature walk in the cedar swamp, learning about animal adaptations, seeing and hearing about turtles and snakes in the nature center and using nets to find things in the pond.
We had a fun time at Bushy Hill Nature Center and learned a lot!!!! Thank you to all the chaperones who came with us and helped us!!!
Tuesday, June 12 was Math Day at Burr School! There were four stations set up for our grade in the cafeteria. At one station, the boys and girls hit a golf ball towards a shape, and named and scored the shapes. At another, the kids caught a beach ball with number facts and answered the facts their hands were on. Another station had balls with numbers and the kids had one number and had to decide what number to add to the ball number to make ten.

Max Tells Our Class All About His Learning Fair Project
On Monday, April 14 Max went to Ms. Stupakevich’s Third Grade class to tell them all about his Learning Fair Project before the Fair that night. He left his booklet and the awesome log cabin he made for his project at school so he could share it with his classmates the next day. On Tuesday, Max told how he made the cabin and why he did it that way. His classmates were very impressed and asked some great questions, which Max was happy to answer!!!
Great Job, Max!!!!
