Learning About Fire Prevention
On Thursday morning, October 12, members of our volunteer fire department came to our school to talk about fire prevention! They talked about getting out of your house safely and not going back in for anything if there is a fire. Having a meeting area where the whole family could gather was discussed, along with the importance of changing the batteries in your smoke detectors. The children practiced the numbers to call in an emergency, and the firefighters went over what the children would be asked if they needed to call 911!!! Some children were selected (including our Alex) to show everyone how to do Stop - Drop - And Roll - if your clothes or part of your body catches on fire!!!
The firefighters also showed us their equipment and what they would look like if they had to enter a building that was on fire!!! Then Mrs. Edwards got to put on their clothes, as if she was getting ready to fight a fire!!! Her son, Issac came up to be with her!!!!
After that, the firefighters gave everyone a white fire hat and then all the children went outside to see the yellow fire truck and have their picture taken!!! They also left a special bag for everyone for Fire Prevention month to take home!!!!
Thank you firefighters for coming Burr and bringing your fire truck for us to see, for teaching us about fire safety and for giving us the fire hats and bag of fire prevention goodies!!! Most of all, thank you for all you do everyday to help keep us safe!!! THANK YOU!!!
