In our first science unit, students are learning about the patterns of the moon and sun. We have begun exploring this learning through shadows. Students now know that to make a shadow you need 3 things: a light source, an object and a surface to see the shadow. They also have learned about different types of objects and the different or no shadows they make including, opaque, translucent and transparent. Here are some snapshots of the students tracing shadows on a sunny day. They traced them 3 times to watch and notice how shadows change and shift throughout the day as the position of the sun changes.
